About

Located at Australia’s oldest operating Tram Depot, Bendigo Tramways Heritage Rail Workshop has all of the necessary skills and resources to assist with the restoration of heritage trams and can provide customised tram components.

Bendigo Tramways were responsible for rebuilding Melbourne’s City Circle fleet and have the ability to customise trams to any requirements, including commercial kitchens, pop-up bars, restaurants, and retail centrepieces.

Bendigo Tramways Workshop is in the processes of undergoing an $11.7m expansion to create a purpose-built national restoration centre of excellence, not only for trams, but also for heavy rail and other restoration projects.

As a not-for-profit organisation, the work undertaken within the Bendigo Tramways Heritage Rail Workshop supports the ongoing maintenance and restoration of Bendigo’s own iconic Vintage Talking Tram fleet, which is amongst the best working collection of heritage trams in the world and was named Victoria’s Cultural Tourism Attraction of the Year in 2019.

Infusing traditional trades with modern technology enables Bendigo Tramways to offer coachbuilding, engineering, electrical and upholstery services to tramway operators and museums, private collectors and creative businesses.
